Brooch - Sterling Silver Luckenbooth with Citrine
This Luckenbooth brooch is sterling silver and engraved with Celtic knots. The stone is a whisky (pale) yellow Citrine Cairngorm. It is hallmarked Edinburgh 1961 and the maker is Robert Allison. It measures 1.25 inches high and 15/16 inches wide with a roll over clasp. A Luckenbooth was given by a man to his sweetheart on their betrothal. It was considered a lucky charm, protecting the wearer against the evil eye. If pinned to a baby’s shawl, it would protect the child and ward off evil spirits. A quality piece, it is in excellent used condition and has a beautiful patina .
