Annie Moore - The Golden Dollar Girl
The further adventures of Cork-born Annie Moore, the very first immigrant of any nationality to land at Ellis Island, New York on the day it opened in 1892. The book opens in 1894 and seventeen-year-old Annie has left her family in the Lower East Side to go into service for a family on Fifth Avenue. Forced to leave in disgrace, she moves west to Nebraska to join her friend Ellen King. The West is unlike anything she has experienced, but she adapts and soon has an admirer.
