Ivorex Plaque - Burns' Cottage Alloway


Ivorex refers to plaques made by Arthur Osborne in the B. Osborne Company in England. The main peculiarity of the plaques designed by Osborne was that they pictured buildings and room interiors that were designed with a three dimensional effect, hand painted and dipped in wax. In 1965, the firm ceased its operations.

Ivorex Plaque measures approximately 6" x 9 1/2" x 1" deep. It is engraved beneath picture "Burns' Cottage * Alloway Ayr. The back of the wall hanging is engraved "A. Osborne / Copyright (probably very early 1900s but is faded). In very good condition with slight ware as to be expected with an item of this age.
